Mauritius Collège in Curepipe was in an uproar on Tuesday morning 1 August. A grade 11 student attempted suicide by jumping from the second floor of the college. An ambulance from the Service d’Aide Médicale d’Urgence (Samu) was called to the scene to transport the victim to the Victoria Hospital in Candos.
On the second day of school for the third term, Mauritius College was rocked by a tragedy before classes started. An 18-year-old schoolgirl attempted to end her life by jumping to her death. She jumped from the second floor of the school. No one knows why she did it.
This tragedy disrupted classes at the college on Tuesday 1 August. An investigation has been launched at Curepipe police station to shed light on the circumstances of this case.
