The parliamentary leader of the PTr is challenging his expulsion from the National Assembly on 11 April and his suspension for the following two sittings. He alleges that his constitutional rights were infringed by this decision. Its action is aimed at the Speaker, the Prime Minister and Parliament.
The three defenders filed a motion to strike out several paragraphs of Arvin Boolell’s complaint. They were largely successful. Judges Véronique Kwok Yin Siong Yen and Kesnaytee Bissoonauth struck out several paragraphs for several reasons last week.
However, they retained some of the paragraphs that the defenders had asked to be struck out.
The two judges also ordered that the case be called before the Master & Registrar on 5 December to be formalised.
