Several days of surveillance led to the arrest of Mohammad Ali Ackbar Ellahi, a 25-year-old welder living on Piéton Père Laval Street, Sainte-Croix, on Friday, January 20. This suspect was arrested in Tranquebar by the Special Patrol team of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) Metropolitan, after he was found in possession of a quantity of the synthetic drug. The market value of the drug is Rs 232 500.
The men of sergeant Yan Sun Fong had information that Ackbar Ellahi was engaged in drug trafficking. After several days of surveillance, Ackbar Ellahi was caught on the morning of Friday, January 20. He was apprehended around 11 am at the street Guillaume Giquel, Tranquebar where he went to sell 46.5 grams of synthetic drug.
The suspect was taken to the Adsu office in the Central Barracks for questioning. He confessed that the drug found in his possession was indeed intended for sale. However, he did not say where the drugs came from.
Ackbar Ellahi was brought before the Port-Louis court on Friday, January 20, on a provisional charge of drug trafficking. He was subsequently held in a police cell.
