“Mo pe arett la misik la”. That was the response of a 46-year-old woman, manager of a restaurant in the capital on the evening of Tuesday September 5 when she was ticketed by a team of police officers for playing loud music on the third floor of this four-storey building in a residential and commercial area. She was fined a fixed penalty of Rs 10,000. She has twenty-one days to pay this sum in court.
It was during a patrol by police officers from the Trou-Fanfaron police station that they arrived at this building, located at the corner of a street in this busy district. On arriving at this location at around 11.45pm on the evening of Tuesday September 5, music could be heard coming from the premises as the police officers climbed the stairs.
In front of the counter, several people were seen consuming alcoholic drinks and snacks. Music was still playing from two loudspeakers hanging on the wall. The manager was informed of the nuisance she was causing with this music, to which she replied, “mo pe arett la misik la”.
Nevertheless, she was fined a fixed penalty of Rs 10,000. She has twenty-one days to pay the fine in court.
