Facing Cameroon in Group D of the group phase of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Africa on Friday, Mauritius proved resilient but lost 3-0 at the Stade Omnisport in Douala, Cameroon.
A goal conceded in stoppage time (47th) in the first half from Bryan Mbeumo gave the Indomitable Lions a confident start to the second half.
In the second half, both teams made several changes, and although Mauritius enjoyed far greater possession of the ball (72% versus 28%), the Cameroonians had to wait until the 87th minute for their second goal, from Georges Nkoudou.
Then, at the end of the match (92nd), the Cameroonians added to their tally through striker Frank Magri.
In the group standings, Cameroon is in first place with three points, the same number as Libya, who beat Eswatini (0-1). Angola and Cape Verde, who drew (0-0), are third and fourth respectively. Club M currently occupies last place.
Club M’s next match in the tournament will be played on November 21 in Cote d’or at 8 pm.
