A 60 year old man lived the worst day of his life, Thursday morning of December 01. He was returning home to one of the NHDC apartments in Cite Atlee, Curepipe after withdrawing his old age pension and his year-end bonus when he was accosted by two individuals on the stairs. He was manhandled and robbed of Rs 19 000.
It was around 9:45 am this Thursday morning of December 01. This sexagenarian was climbing the stairs to return to his apartment. He had arrived at the second floor when he was approached by two unknown persons. He was held by the back by one of the individuals, while a second man searched the left pocket of his pants to take by force a sum of Rs 19 000. The other suspect would later begin to hit him in the mouth.
These two assailants also had to flee. Although he was not injured, he said he felt pain in his mouth. He wanted to be examined by a doctor. He told police officers at the Curepipe Police Station that he will be able to identify his two assailants. The Criminal Investigation Division of Curepipe was seized of this case.
