Scientists Find A Triple Star System Bigger Than The Sun

Must Read

Deep within this vast universe, scientists have discovered an unyielding “one of a kind” system, termed the compact Triple Star System. This unusual system was found with two of these glazing spheres of gas spinning around each other, with the third star circulating the pair, dancing in the gravitational force.

Before this rare celestial finding, scientists have discovered many star systems, but the balls of glazing gas were found far apart from each other. This 3-star formation is way more compact and larger than the ones found earlier. That’s why the Triple Star System is said to be the first of its kind to be discovered.

As this rare system is being studied, informed by scientists that the mass of the two central stars when combined is almost twelve times the mass of the Sun. In addition, the mass of the third star is 16 times the mass of the Sun and the stars’ orbiting nature is similar to the Earth’s rotation pattern. Here, the main question remains, how rare are these celestial combinations?

Triple Star System1

There have been theories, defining this formation, put forth by Bin Liu, a theoretical astrophysicist affiliated with the University of Copenhagen, along with her colleague, Alejandro Vigna-Gomez. The scientists’ theorised, “in the initial phase, it was predicted that the bigger star of the trio took its birth first. However, later the option fell through and later research suggested that a starry leviathan spewed out material inward that would disrupt the formation of the binary stars. That means, there wouldn’t have been a triple star formation.”

The team of scientists further suggested, that “the binary stars and the third bigger star might have formed separately, far away from each other and then slowly come together due to the force of gravity.”

The theoretical astrophysicist Vigna-Gomez said, “now we have a model of the most likely scenario on this unique system. But a model is not enough.” The predictions need to be proven by a telescope to help examine the Triple Star System and statistically understand this celestial formation.

Before the final theory is published, scientists would be tempted to study such a system. Therefore, a lot of work is yet to be done.
