A 10-year-old schoolboy had to be evacuated by ambulance from the Service d’Aide Médicale d’Urgence (Samu) on Tuesday afternoon, June 13, to the Victoria Hospital in Candos. This after he fell from the top of a shed where he had climbed to pick fruit in the courtyard of the Shri Shamboonath Government School in Camp Fouquereaux, Phoenix.
The accident occurred at around 9.15 am on the morning of Tuesday June 13. The grade 5 pupil had climbed onto a shed to do some picking when he fell to the ground. He was found on the ground on his back, complaining of pain. The school management was immediately informed. To prevent him from suffering further, it was decided that he should not be moved until a Samu ambulance arrived on the scene.
According to his comrades, the injured man had climbed onto the roof of the fiberglass shed when he fell. An investigation has been launched at the police station to ascertain the exact circumstances of the accident.
