A police operation mounted by members of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the Western Division, with the assistance of a police helicopter, resulted in the uprooting of seven hundred and seventy-three cannabis plants in the Balfour area of Beau-Bassin on Tuesday morning, 12 September. The plants, which measure between ten and sixty centimetres, have a street value of Rs 3,092,000.
The Adsu team, led by Inspector Fowdar, went to this wooded area of Balfour in Beau-Bassin on the basis of certain information. This was after the plants were spotted by police officers aboard the helicopter. A search was then carried out to uproot the plants. They were taken to the Adsu office.
