This Saturday, the President of the Republic will preside over the swearing-in ceremony of the new members of the Regional Assembly, as well as the Chief Commissioner, his deputy, the various commissioners, and the President and Vice President. The event will take place this Saturday at 3 pm on the quay of Port Mathurin. Pradeep Roopun will be back in Mauritius on Sunday.
The Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning and the Minister of Tourism and Xavier Duval, the Leader of the Opposition will also attend the ceremony.
Johnson Roussety will assume the post of Commissioner of the Liberation Alliance from this Saturday and Franceau Grandcourt will then take over for the next three years.
Alians Liberation to lead new regional government
The ballot boxes have spoken on February 27 after the regional elections 2022. The team that will lead Rodrigues for the next five years is ‘L’Alians Liberation’, which includes the alliance ‘UPR-MIR-MMR’ and the alliance ‘FPR-PMSD Rodrigues’. The members of the Rodrigues People’s Organization (RPO) will sit on the opposition benches.
