The political bureau of the Labour Party met for the first time after the renewal of the party executive. Afterwards, the leader, Navin Ramgoolam, surrounded by the members of the new leadership, held a press conference. He announced that the honorary President is Kailesh Purryag, former President of the Republic and former Deputy Prime Minister. The new General Secretary is Ritesh Ramful, MP from Constituency No 12. Eshan Juman is the new administrative General Secretary. Amrita Boolaky is the new President of the women’s wing, Women’s League, while Fabrice David remains the President of Young Labour. Siven Poinusamy remains the party treasurer whereas Raviraj Bheechook is the new director of communication and Dhaneswar Damry the new director of strategy, innovation and transformation. Osman Mahomed is the director of international relations while Lormus Bundhoo is the campaign director. Farad Aumeer is the director of the National Policy Forum while Arvin Boolell is the director of Field Operations. The Vice Presidents are Anil Bachoo, Satish Faugoo, Shakeel Mohamed, Rajesh Jeetah and Suren Dayal.
But of course, Navin Ramgoolam remains the Leader and Patrick Assirvaden the President.
