Randhir Etoar, a 48-year-old homeless man was brought before the court of Flacq on Monday morning April 10 on a provisional charge of murder. This man was arrested by elements of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Bel Air Rivière Sèche in the evening of Saturday, April 8, and confessed to having stabbed in the heart his concubine Rambawtee Affigadee. 56 years old for a money matter.
The body of the fifty-year-old in a state of decomposition was discovered at her home on the morning of Friday 7 April. An autopsy performed at the morgue of the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis late Friday afternoon by Dr. Prem Chamane, Principal Police Medical Officer had attributed her death to a stab wound to the heart.
Neighbors who were bothered by a foul odor coming from the house of Rambawtee Affigadee, had called the police. Around 8:45 am on Friday, April 7, a team of police officers from the Bel Air Rivière Sèche police station who had arrived on the scene had to break down the main door of the house to gain access to the interior. In a room the police found the body of Rambawtee Affigadee in a state of decomposition and lying on his stomach.
One of the victim’s uncles who lives in La Lucie Roy, Bel Air Rivière Sèche identified the woman, Rambawtee Affigadee, as his niece who was a vegetable vendor.
Since the CID was actively looking for Randhir Etoar who shared the life of this woman. After being brought before the Bail and Remand Court in Port-Louis on Sunday morning, April 9, Randhir Etoar was examined by Dr. Chamane in the afternoon of the same day.
