His second place behind Sand Path on his first outing in Mauritius was a good sign. Winter Guard was the hot favourite and he did the job. His draw 1 in the gates was very helpful as he had a dream race behind the leader Gordonstoun. Jockey Swapneel Rama waited for the final straight to engage the fight. Winter Guard sprinted well to win with Yankee Force finishing second.
