All inmates will now be passed in front of a body scanner with X-rays from this Monday, February 14. Indeed, the penitentiary service has acquired this scanner which has been installed in the central prison. This equipment must be able to detect any object or drug that are hidden by the inmates inside their body.
The authorization to operate the scanner was obtained from the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority.
The decision has been made that all male and female inmates who will be incarcerated will be required to go through this scanner.
Upon their appearance in court, male and female inmates will again be required to go through this scanner upon their return from prison.
With this change, police officers escorting inmates will be required to go through this scanner and procedures for inmates will now be modified.
This measure aims to prevent prisoners from carrying illicit items into the prison such as cell phones or sim cards.
