The Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, inaugurated the newly renovated Côte d’Or Football Ground, this afternoon, in Côte d’Or.
The Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, the Member of Parliament, Mr Yogida Sawmynaden, and other personalities were also present.
In a statement, the Prime Minister highlighted that the inauguration of this newly renovated football ground bears testimony that Government gives thorough consideration to local and regional projects and has at heart the quality of life of all citizens, irrespective of the regional area.
The village of Côte d’Or, he underlined, has a population of less than 500 inhabitants, yet, the Government in collaboration with the District Council, left no stone unturned to invest in infrastructural projects so as to bring development in the village.
Furthermore, he encouraged the inhabitants of the village, in particular the youth, to take advantage of the facilities put at their disposal and to practise a physical activity and sports on a daily basis adding that at least one physical activity should form part of the daily routine of every citizen.
This football ground, Mr Jugnauth emphasised, is one of a series of projects that are on Government’s agenda, which is geared towards enhancing the quality of life of the population.
He also expressed satisfaction as regards the renovation works done on the football ground to include changing rooms, a petanque court, a children’s playground, and proper lighting so that football players can train themselves till late.
