The MSM organised a youth rally this Saturday at the Sun Trust. Its leader, Pravind Jugnauth, listed all the measures and decisions taken by the government in favour of the family, ranging from a monthly allowance of Rs 2,000 for each child up to the age of 3 to a special allowance of Rs 20,000 for any young person reaching the age of majority.
At the end of his speech, he asked the country’s young people to make their own assessment of their performance. “Compare my record with others. Compare my behaviour with that of other leaders and political leaders. You have to use your intelligence… I am sure that you will make the difference”, he declared. Pravind Jugnauth added that he had all the energy he needed to continue the work he had started. He added that the population still needed to be made more aware. For him, Mauritius must be cited as an example… not only in Africa but also internationally.
SAJ has passed the torch to someone who has been acclaimed
At the start of his speech, Pravind Jugnauth spoke of his father’s achievements. He recalled that at the Sun Trust, Sir Anerood Jugnauth worked on his vision for the country but also for the party. He added that when he decided to pass on the torch, he did so “democratically, to someone from the party who had been acclaimed by the electorate”. But for him, there are bad losers who do not accept the verdict of the people.
