He sought to challenge his summons by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (Icac) in connection with allegations of bribery made by Ajay Kumar Jeetoo and Hans Keegan Etwaroo. On 21 August 2023, Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) Rajanah Dhaliah, accompanied by his lawyer Jean Didier Kersley Pursun, made the formal application. However, it was dismissed by Judge Carol Green Jokhoo.
The PPS and Attorney General (AG) Maneesh Gobin have each filed an action in the Supreme Court seeking the quashing of the Private Prosecution filed against them in the Curepipe Magistrate’s Court by citizen Vivay Kanum Pursun. The “Private Prosecution” was frozen by order of the Supreme Court. Vivay Kanum Pursun accuses the AG and the PPS Dhaliah of having acted in concert on 12 September 2020 to illegally allocate 250.76 hectares of State land in Dayot and Mangin to the Eco Deer Park Association. This transaction was allegedly carried out in exchange for a bribe of Rs 3.5 million, which was to be paid to them in several instalments via Rajesh Ramnarain, their chief agent in constituency no. 7 (Piton/Rivière-du-Rempart).
PPS Rajanah Dhaliah has retained the services of barrister Ravi Rutnah for this case.
