Jean Hubert Celerine is eligible to extradition to Réunion Island. This is the conclusion of magistrate Shavina Jugnauth. She ordered, this afternoon, that Franklin be extradited. It should noted that Jeremy Desiré Décidé, AKA Nono, has also been extradited to Réunion Island last year. French authorities have initiated a procedure, in 2021, for the extradition of these two Mauritians who have been condemned to 7 years imprisonment, in absentia, for cannabis trafficking.
In a statement to the press, Me Yatin Varma, who represents Franklin, said that he intends to contest the court’s decision by appealing. Franklin was arrested by the ICAC in February last year. In July 2021 Jean Hubert Celèrine has been sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment by the Reunion authorities for drug trafficking in Réunion.
