The venue chosen by the PTr/MMM/PMSD alliance for its congress scheduled for 18 August in Vacoas is inappropriate, according to the police. The venue chosen for the alliance’s second rally was the parking area opposite the Total petrol station in Vacoas.
In correspondence sent to the Mauritius Labour Party, the office of the Commissioner of Police has indicated that the chosen venue will cause inconvenience to traffic.
“This office wishes to draw attention to the fact that the proposed venue is not suitable, as this would cause inconvenience to road users and would disrupt the life of the community there,” reads the letter, dated 1 August.
The Office of the Police Commissioner is asking the parties concerned to come up with a new venue proposal no less than 7 days before the scheduled date of the event.
The first congress of the PTr/MMM/PMSD alliance was held on 28 July at Mare d’Albert in constituency 12.
