Wednesday morning, Arvin Boolell, PTr leader in Parliament, applied for an injunction to freeze his suspension from the National Assembly on Tuesday. He was requesting an interim order until he initiates a challenge, and the Supreme Court decides the matter.
However, Justice Shameem Hamuth-Laulloo has not issued any interim order. Instead, she has summoned all parties concerned, that is Arvin Boolell, the Speaker, the Prime Minister, and the National Assembly, via the Clerk, to her office on Friday, 14 April at 10 am.
They must justify why such an order requested by Arvin Boolell should not be issued.
It should be recalled that the Labour member of Parliament has been suspended again last Tuesday because of comments he made against the Speaker on a private radio.
Arvin Boolell believes that the Speaker has exceeded his powers. He has filed an application for an injunction on Wednesday.
