The U.S. Embassy to Mauritius announces the U.S. donation of 76,050 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19vaccine to Mauritius
“Vaccines are the best way to control the pandemic, slow new variants, and return to economic prosperity. Mauritius has been a global leader in vaccination, and this donation from the American people will help protect young people between 12 and 17 years old,” U.S. Embassy Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Thomas Kohl said.
The vaccines were received by Mauritian Health Minister Kailesh Jagutpal, Foreign Minister Alan Ganoo and United Nations Resident Coordinator Christine Umutoni at the airport this morning.
The vaccine donation is part of the Biden Administration’s commitment to share vaccines with countries around the world and end the COVID-19 pandemic.
The vaccines were delivered via the COVAX facility.
Hence , vaccination Program for students of 15 -17 years will start shortly.
