Parliament: Arianne Navarre-Marie Suspended For Today’s Sitting And The Next Four

At the very beginning of the session, the Speaker of the National Assembly made a statement. He went back to an incident last week, which had seen the expulsion of the MP Arianne Navarre-Marie. He said that on her way out, the MP shouted at him: “You are shouting like a dog!” For Soorojdev Phokeer, this is disrespectful to the Chair and offensive to the House. He said he would leave the matter in the hands of Parliament. The Prime Minister then moved an emergency motion to suspend Arianne Navarre-Marie for today’s sitting and the next four. The MP was present in the National Assembly. She had to leave the Chamber.
