Police uncovered a major cannabis crop on Wednesday afternoon, February 14. No fewer than 300 gandia plants were discovered on a wooded plot in Le Bouchon.
This operation was made possible thanks to the contribution of the police helicopter under the command of ASP Boolaky. The helicopter squadron was able to locate the plantation and pass on information to the Divisional Supporting Unit (DSU) and the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) in the South. As a result, a team comprising Sergeant Sahye and Inspector Bajun, under the supervision of ACP Sookhea, launched operation “Typhoon”.
The raid proved fruitful. The majority of these ripe, green plants were ready for harvest. The uprooted plants, with an estimated market value of Rs 2 million, were taken to the Central Barracks for safekeeping.
At this stage of the investigation, the raid has not resulted in any arrests. Investigators are looking for clues to trace the suspects.
