Omicron Propels Seychelles Health Authorities To Put Up New Travel Measures

Must Read

As Saturday November 27, the Ministry of Health is applying new measures for Seychellois nationals, residents and visitors travelling from the southern Africa region.

The measures apply for South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

This is because of the new Covid-19 variant called B.1.1.529 now detected in South Africa.

The measures are as follows:

  • Visitors from the said countries are not permitted to enter Seychelles until further notice.
  • Seychellois and residents now returning to Seychelles who have been to any of these countries in last two weeks should self-quarantine and take a compulsory PCR test on day 5 after arrival.
  • All persons already in Seychelles who have been to these countries in the last two weeks are required to go for a PCR test if they have been in Seychelles from five (5) up to fourteen (14) days after arrival.
  • Those who have been in Seychelles for less than 5 days should wait for day 5 to go for the PCR test.
  • Travel to South Africa and the other said countries is strongly discouraged.
  • All public health and social measures in place must be strictly respected.

The PCR test following travel to the mentioned countries is free of charge at government testing stations.
