The Labour Party leader will withdraw his election petition calling for the invalidation of the election of the three Morisyen Alliance candidates in constituency 10, Vikram Hurdoyal, Zahid Nazurally and Sunil Bholah. According to his lawyers, this would be a strategic withdrawal as Navin Ramgoolam’s arguments are like those of Suren Dayal who is challenging the rejection of his election petition by the Supreme Court before the Privy Council. It should be noted that Navin Ramgoolam and Suren Dayal are the only two petitioners who are demanding the invalidation of the elections in their respective constituencies. The others are calling for a recount.
