Navin Ramgoolam sent a message on the 80th anniversary of the birth of the Labour Party. “We are also facing an election year that is just as crucial for the future of our nation”, he said. He added that he has “the responsibility to lead, with our allies, the MMM and the PMSD, a new liberation struggle against a regime that has confiscated our freedoms, trampled on our rights, squandered our heritage and set up a mafia that is corrupting our institutions.”
He added: “88 years of history. 88 years of fighting. 88 years of commitment from the Labor Party, which are part of our country’s DNA.
I salute the memory of the other five Labour Party leaders who, before me, sacrificed their lives for us and our freedom: Dr. Maurice Curé, Emmanuel Anquetil, Guy Rozemont, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam and Sir Satcam Boolell.”
But, for him, the hour of deliverance is near. “Following on from the 1967 election, the next election in 2024 once again resonates as one of liberation and it will be vital to make the right choice. This choice will ensure that present and future generations can live in a fair, prosperous and sustainable Mauritius,” Navin Ramgoolam added.
He invited the entire Mauritian nation to rally around the Labour party and its allies to restore hope and defend our rights.
