Reinvigorating cooperation between Britain and Mauritius and rebuilding trust for a constructive dialogue on the Chagos… In a meeting with the British High Commissioner to Mauritius, Charlotte Pierre, the leader of the Rassemblement Mauricien, Nando Bodha presented the main themes of his ‘Projet de Société’.
This ‘Projet de Société’ is the result of fieldwork carried out by the RM. It aims to bring about constitutional, institutional and democratic changes with integrity, meritocracy, and competence at its core. In his presentation, Nando Bodha focused on the revival of investment, knowledge, technology, and innovation but also on Mauritius’ geographical position and its role with Asia and Africa. Having highlighted the human capital of Mauritius and its geopolitical position, the High Commissioner showed her interest in this Social Project.
On the Chagos issue, the RM leader spoke of the urgency of a constructive dialogue based on trust between Britain and Mauritius in the context of a wider context with the United States and the countries of the Indo-Pacific region, notably with the participation of India and Australia.
