A 28-year-old woman and her 62-year-old mother were hospitalized on Wednesday evening, December 28, after they were attacked with a knife outside their home in Curepipe. They were stabbed in the cheeks, hands and knees when they tried to resist an individual who wanted to snatch their handbags. The sixty-year-old woman received a stab wound also in the abdomen. The thief managed to take her purse containing her bank cards, personal belongings, a wallet, some money and her cell phone.
The Curepipe police station was alerted after two patients injured during a robbery went to the Fortis Darné clinic in Floréal for treatment. The young woman who works as a project coordinator explained that she and her mother got off at the metro station in Curepipe to go to their home.
About ten meters before arriving at their home, they noticed that they were followed by a man. They then accelerated their steps. As soon as they were in front of the gate of their house, this man ran towards them before pushing them with his two hands. Mother and daughter were on the ground. The suspect started to grab their bags, but they resisted. He then pulled out a knife and began to hit them. They were hit on their cheeks, hands and knees. The 60-year-old woman was also injured in the abdomen.
While the two women were screaming in pain, this individual was able to seize the bag of the sexagenarian which contained her bank cards, her personal effects, a wallet, a sum of money and her cellular phone before taking his legs to his neck by abandoning a pair of shoes of the mark Channel of color brown, black and white, a cap. The two women called for help. The young woman’s uncle came out and took them to the Ferriere clinic for first aid before being transferred to the Fortis Darné clinic. The 28-year-old woman was able to return home during the night, while her mother is still admitted.
The suspect is being actively sought by the Criminal Investigation Division in Curepipe. The images of the surveillance cameras at this location have been viewed.
