Message From Commissioner Dip: We Can Be Proud Of What We Have Achieved This Year

Must Read

Acting Commissioner of Police Anil Kumar Dip, made a point of thanking them in his year-end message. He also announced the upcoming release of a strategic plan that encompasses the various aspects of police work.

The year 2021 is coming to an end. It is important to prepare for the transition, to reflect on achievements and to look forward to the new year, said the DIP Commissioner. Thus, in his message to his lieutenants, he acknowledged that 2021 has been particularly challenging for the Mauritian Police Force. With the second wave of the COVID 19 pandemic, the police were faced with an unprecedented challenge: to reconcile operational efficiency with the management of persistent risks of contamination within the police ranks. As such, he paid tribute to the officers who fell on the battlefield while protecting citizens from this invisible enemy and extended his sympathies to their families.

With the COVID, the workload has multiplied, he added. Nevertheless, the police force has been able to meet expectations. He also praised the hard work of police officers in the quarantine centers.

New strategy paying off

The strategies put in place at the divisional level allow for the prevention of crimes, deter criminals and allow for the rapid arrest of criminals. For this, I salute the efforts of everyone, said the Acting Commissioner Dip.

In addition, the recently introduced concept of interoperability allows other police services to contribute to the fight against crime.

2022 and its challenges

However, he said, “we must expect that 2022 will come with its share of challenges.

He pointed out that the situation at COVID 19 is full of uncertainty, complexity … In the face of this adversity, the resilience of the organization and individuals is necessary.

As Assistant Commissioner of Police, he made a commitment to ensure that the police force is ready to meet the challenge. Moreover, Commissioner Dip announced the upcoming publication of a strategic plan, which will encompass the various aspects of police work.

He also announced the modernization in the technical area and in the management of human resources. “The expectations of a professional police service are increasingly high. Therefore, our quest for increased modernization and professionalism must be uninterrupted.”

As a responsible organization, MPF will ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place and that the police and security services are effective, promised Commissioner a.i. Dip. We are ensuring the adequacy of police infrastructure, the acquisition of vehicles and equipment, and we have developed standard operating procedures for police operations,” he said.

He cited the new Metro North division headquarters, the Poudre d’Or NCG post, the de Poudre d’Or and the acquisition of a new Dornier and high-speed boats in the near future.

Proactivity the key to success

In this year-end message, the Acting Commissioner of Police maintained that proactivity remains the key to success. It allows us to identify emerging challenges, to anticipate problems and to develop adequate measures and actions.

Thus, he continued, I call upon our officers, especially those in command positions, to adopt a proactive approach, regardless of their function.

However, it is unfortunate and unfair that the work of these dedicated officers often goes unnoticed because of the publicity given to the unhealthy actions of some rogue officers who cross the line, preferring to engage in illegal activities. During this year, the unethical behavior of some officers has also come to light.

No misconduct will be tolerated

“Our quest for excellence must not be hijacked by the dishonorable behavior of some disgruntled individuals, who put their interests ahead of those of the organization and the community for which we are intended. These reprehensible acts not only taint the image of the MPF, but also undermine the morale of fellow officers. Breaches of discipline will not be tolerated and violators will be severely punished,” said the Acting Dip Commissioner.

Then, he presented his most sincere wishes to everyone in this festive period.
