Punters seemed to be confident as they placed big bets on Brabanzio and Canary Island despite their high prices. It’s also the case for Spry and Alshibaa remains the big favourite to win The Maiden Cup this Sunday.
Brabanzio (from 160 to 140) was beaten in his last start over 1400m. He won twice over 990m this year. He remains in good nick and is capable bouncing back in race 7.
Canary Island (from 250 to 170) was challenged for the lead in his last run. Still, he finished strongly to finish 3nd over this longer trip. He is back over 1600m. He will be a big runner in race 3.
Spry (from 230 to 200) made a promising debut finishing second behind Emblem Of Hope. He is in a vastly improved shape and he can break the ice in race 8. The prices of the main challengers of Brabanzio and Spry dropped in races 7 and 8.
The price of Alshibaa remained stable at 190 in the main race where there will be some good outsiders with Patrol Officer (from 1000 to 1200), The Dazzler (from 1200 to 3000), Opera Royal (from 1000 to 1100) and Padre Pio from 1200 to 1600.
Chapter And Verse (from 370 to 300) was backed in race 4. He will try to bag his first win in Mauritius. But he will have to beat Roman Dancer (from 500 to 550), Afdeek (from 1400 to 2000), Watch Me Dad (from 370 to 400) and Captain Gone Wild (from 370 to 400). These four horses already won in 2021 and they will be big runners.
Races 1 and 2 remain open as big changes in the prices have been noted.
