He changed trainer during the break and it paid off as Big Smoke was the best in the first race to score his first win. Previously trained by Raj Ramdin, Big Smoke put on some good weight after his transfer to Alain Perdrau. The gelding was unlucky last time and finished third. He followed mid-field on Saturday, and Mauritian jockey Vikram Sola urged his mount at the 300m mark. Big Smoke was the best at the finish and won in front of Bypass who showed some progress after a long break.
