Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine has smashed all big records of the 21st Century. The 34th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has earned $211 million domestically and $444.1 million globally before completing one week.
Breaking the previous record set by Deadpool from 2016, the film has achieved the most R-rated debut ever both domestically and globally. At No. 8, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is currently among the greatest opening weekends ever, above 2018’s “Black Panther” ($202 million).
Superhero cameos from the Marvel film universe, the Fantastic Four universe, and the X-Men universe abound in Deadpool & Wolverine. These diverse individuals, who have never appeared on the same screen together, end up in the same location.
Five years ago, Disney and 20th Century Fox combined. Disney, the company that owns Marvel Studios and the MCU, had the rights to the Avengers prior to the merger. The Fantastic Four and X-Men, on the other hand, belonged to Fox. Disney now owns all of the characters as of the 2019 merger, and the MCU is starting to incorporate the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters.
