Mauritius In The Top 5 Of African Countries Most Conducive To Remote Work

Must Read

Mauritius is the third African country on the Global Remote Work Index. The report was carried out by cyber security company NordLayer. According to the report, the ten best countries in the world for remote working are found in Europe and Scandinavia. They are Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, Estonia, Lithuania, Ireland and Slovakia.

Of the 20 African countries included in the index, only Morocco is in the world’s Top 50, in 48th place. Tunisia follows close behind in 53rd place. Mauritius is in 58th place, ahead of South Africa and Egypt. The majority of African countries rank much lower in the index.

The Global Remote Work Index rates countries on various factors that contribute to the quality of remote work, including cybersecurity, economic conditions, digital and physical infrastructure and social security. 108 countries were evaluated. Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Angola occupy the last three places.

It should be noted, however, that when it comes to tourist appeal, African countries make a strong impression. On this criterion alone, they all feature in the Top 30. Mauritius, which is 14th in the world, is the best in Africa. Next come Morocco and South Africa, both 16th, and Botswana (17th).

Nevertheless, while African countries are renowned for their tourist appeal, many of them have to contend with inadequate digital infrastructure, notes the study. Remote working is increasingly becoming a permanent feature of the modern professional landscape.
