The Mauritian branch of the Traditional Ip Man Wing Chun Association has had a branch in Zimbabwe for the past 8 months. 60 students train there daily under the guidance of Mauritian Jacques Li.
After having largely contributed to the popularization of Wing Chun in Mauritius, Jacques Li launched a brance of this martial art in Zimbabwe: “In 2018 I was in China to attend a seminar on Wing Chun. Several countries had sent their representatives including Zimbabwe. I thus trained the one from Zimbabwe who subsequently launched a branch in his country since 9 months under the leadership of the Mauritian branch.”
And according to Jacques Li, the training center is working wonderfully: “The sixty or so students train daily in conditions that are not necessarily optimal. In spite of the fact that the Mauritian branch regularly helps them, the Zimbabweans are very resourceful to live their passion for Wing Chun.
After Zimbabwe, Jacques also plans to open other schools throughout Africa: “I have set myself the goal of popularizing Wing Chun in Africa. So, after Zimbabwe, Kenya and Botswana will also have a training center. Kenya and Botswana.”
