Cristiano Ronaldo’s double against the Republic of Ireland in a 2022 World Cup qualifier on 1 September made him the highest scorer in Portugal’s history with 111 goals, two more than Iran’s Ali Daei.
With his goal against France on 23 June, Cristiano Ronaldo took his total to 109 goals for Portugal. With 14 goals at the EURO, he leaves behind Michel Platini and his nine goals in 1984. The Frenchman still has the privilege of having scored all his goals in the same tournament, which remains a record.
