Imagine receiving an amount of money much more than your salary? What would you do? In Chile, a man received 165,398,851 Chilean pesos or $177,356 by his company erroneously which resulted in him resigning and vanishing without a trace!
According to the Tribune, as per the reports of local media of Chile, the incident took place in the human resources area of the Food Industrial Consortium (Cial). The company controls several accomplished brands of Chile. While the company was transferring salaries of its employees, it made an error by transferring 165,398,851 Chilean pesos into the account of one of its employees. The amount was 286 times higher than the employee’s actual salary.
Initially, the man approached his deputy manager to inform about the error. He was then asked to reach the bank, fill a voucher and ensure the money came back to the office account. The man agreed, but did not turn up for days. The bank confirmed that the man had not initiated the repayment process.
On June 2nd, the man mysteriously turned up with his lawyer and tendered his resignation. He has been missing and is on the run since then. The company has initiated legal proceedings against the man hoping to recover the amount.
