Following the example of several cultural and religious associations in the country, Hindu House held a press conference this week to talk about the inauguration and consecration of Ram Mandir, after several years of struggle.

This event is scheduled for January 22 in Uttar Pradesh, Ayodhya (India). Hindus the world over will be celebrating this event (Pranpathistha Shri Ramlala Janmabhoomi – Ayodhya).

In the presence of Hemandre Deepchand, Atish Boyjonauth, (respectively secretary, executive members, Prakash and Dhaneshwar Ramdhun, Gokhool Ramsahye and Acharya Pawan), among others, Hindu House president Luxshmee Ramdhun-Bundhun said that since the society was founded almost 30 years ago, Hindu House has always advocated national unity. “Hindu House’s commitment is to preserve national unity and promote culture, religion and tradition. Our pride lies in our inter-faith tolerance, welcome and acceptance of the entire Mauritian public. The beauty of Hindu House also lies in our commitment to making our island a unified nation, and as President I have always been committed to safeguarding this unity by respecting the principles that define my religious beliefs,” she added.

Continuing, she pointed out that the temple is located in a Ram Janmabhoomi site, the birthplace of Ram, who is the principal deity of Hinduism. “After 500 years, our generation will be able to witness this great event. I appeal to all ‘Ram Bhakt’ and Mauritian families to light up our country with a ‘diya’ as we do for Divali,” she will say.

Luxshme Ramdhun- Bundhun has invited all Mauritian families to celebrate Ram Utsav on January 22 from 6pm at Hindu House. A series of activities is planned, including a ‘rally’ in collaboration with the Hari Hara Devasthanam, on January 14 starting at 10am from Cassis to 16th Mile, Forest Side.

The president of Hindu House has appealed to Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth to grant two hours’ permission for Shri Ram devotees to take part in the island-wide Ram Utsav celebration on January 22.
