On Monday 21st March 2022, a new political party was born. The launching of a new political party, “Linion Pep Morisien” took place at the Caudan Arts Centre this afternoon. Formed in collaboration with various group leaders, the launching took place in presence of Bruneau Laurette, Dev Sunnasy, Jean Claude Barbier and Me. Rama Valayden.
As for every political party, an anthem, a constitution and a code of conduct are a must for every existing and emerging party. The anthem was composed by two local artists, namely Gerard Louis and Bruno Raya, while the Constitution has been drafted by Ivor Tan Yan (Jurist and Mediator). As for the code of conduct of Linion Pep Morisien, it was designed to ensure that it is in line with the Constitution of Mauritius by Jose Moirt and the lawyer, Cliff Grenade.
Bruneau Laurette was the first person to intervene and he spoke about the manifestation held on 29th August 2020 where thousands of people had voiced out about the Wakasio issue. For him, “Dan linion, Dan liniter, tou possib…” and insisted that as Mauritians, we should fight, as one nation, for our country.
On his part, Habib Said Hossen pledged that this new party is engaging itself to bring our country to the right port by taking into consideration the situation in which our country is right now, with people suffering from poverty, unemployment and more.
Jean Claude Barbier’s speech was mainly focused on our Blue Economy and the different ways it can be exploited. He stated that a sustainable development of our marine and oceanic resources should be prioritised as it can bring a favourable growth in the economy of the country.
As for Dev Sunnasy, he pledged that the party will eliminate all kind of discrimination, communalism and racism towards each and every individual. He also stated that without a sustainable economy, the country won’t last long, just like we can notice at the actual time. He also spoke about the introduction of an investigating Judge in the legal system.
The last person who has spoken was Me. Rama Valayden, who stated “to count on one individual is not good… to count on a team is 100 times better…” He said that Linion Pep Morisien believes in the collaboration of each one and “nu tou ensam, marier piker, nu pou resi.”
