Jonathan Majors, who plays Kang in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”, has shared that he could have missed out on his career as a Marvel character before it began after he decided to leave his first general meeting with the studio. Majors confessed, in an interview with monthly magazine Vanity Fair, that he grew up in a certain way and that he didn’t want to waste anybody’s time. He said he went in for the meeting but they were very busy. He waited for a while and left, saying, “It’s cool. I’ll just go.”
While Majors was heading out of the building, he was informed that the casting director Sarah Finn was on her way. Majors had a great conversation with the casting director. Three years later, he was offered the role of Kang and he said yes. President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, liked Jonathan Majors’ performance in the film, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, and wanted to meet him.
As Kang in “Quantumania”, Majors’ performance received positive response from the audience. At the early stages of “Quantumania” test screenings, Majors had established an extraordinary impression, Feige told Entertainment Weekly. During the test screenings, it turned out that the audience liked him more than any other Marvel villain.
Loki: Kang’s debut
In Marvel, Kang made his debut in Loki, which streamed on Disney+, as the variant of the character. But the Kang in Loki is not the same as the one in “Quantumania”. Feige shared that it is always fun to make multiple movies about a character. Marvel is very much invested in such ideas and casting. When the final season of “Loki” ended, it was a big relief on knowing that people were interested in Kang. People are excited about Kang’s role even though they haven’t seen him yet.
‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania’ was released on February 17. Before the release, MCU fans were eagerly waiting to see Kang the Conqueror’s first appearance in the movie. Majors’ extraordinary performance as Kang has added more to the excitement of the movie. Even though Majors had a not-so-very-smooth beginning in Marvel, he has proved himself as a talented actor who is ready to become the mega villain of the Cinematic Universe.
