Yesterday, the social activist, Ivann Bibi has applied to the Court for an injunction not to allow the police to summon and interrogate him “under warning”. The Supreme Court judge summoned the Police Commissioner, Anil Kumar Dip, Heman Jangi and four other senior officers today to explain why the Police should question the activist.
A senior officer of the Police force had reported that on May 21, 2022, he was supervising the Operation Empty Tank in Mahebourg when he saw a group of people protesting the high fuel prices. Ivann Bibi was among the protesters. This morning, an agreement was reached. Rama Valayden has promised to take Ivann Bibi to the police for questioning while the Police have undertaken not to arrest Ivann Bibi until the case has been referred to the DPP.
