After the colleges, the Mauritius Film Development Corporation (MFDC) has launched a film competition for elementary school.
For this first edition, the prize went to the RCA school in Souillac. “The first edition had the theme of the family. This is what motivated us to participate in this competition. With the students and other teachers, we wrote the script around the realities that children face on a daily basis. MFDC assisted us with the filming and we are very happy to have taken first place,” explains Stella Pacifique, a former RCA school teacher from Souillac who is now transferred to Mont Carmel – Chemin Grenier school.
In addition, a call for applications has already been launched for the 2nd edition. Elementary schools across the country are invited to register by May 3. The deadline for submission of films is August 25, 2023. The grand prize winner will get a cheque of Rs 50,000. Other cheques will also be offered.
