Nothing is going well in the industrial relations between the Port-Louis Harbour and Docks Workers Union (PHDWU) and the management of the Cargo Handling Corporation Ltd. This is the finding of the leadership of this union, which complains of the lack of meetings with the management of this parastatal body.
Its leaders met the press yesterday at the Mary Queen of Peace Social Center to demand the intervention of the Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth, to improve industrial relations with the CHCL.
According to Eliza Antonio, spokesperson for the union, there is no longer any dialogue between the union and the management of this parastatal.
“The president of the MPA tells us that his orders come from above. We want to know if the head of government has given him his blessing to do whatever he wants,” said the union spokesman. For now, the PHDWU is calling for his resignation from his position.
It was to be hinted that some employees have received warning letters, while a number of employees are simply seeking explanations about the accounting of their salaries.
