The Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs of India, Hon. Shri V. Muraleedharan, in his capacity as the Special Representative of the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, arrived in Mauritius yesterday morning. He was welcomed by the Attorney General, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Maneesh Gobin, and the Indian High Commissioner, Mrs Nandini Singla.
The Indian Minister is visiting Mauritius from 01 to 02 November 2023, to participate as Special Guest to mark the 189th Anniversary of the Arrival of Indentured Labourers in Mauritius.
Minister Muraleedharan will pay a courtesy call on the President of the Republic, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun and also call on the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.
Prime Minister Modi’s Special Representative will also inaugurate various projects which have been realised with the assistance of the Indian Government, namely the launch of stamps and souvenir sheet for the 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations with India; the unveiling of the inauguration plate of the L’Esperance Mini Soccer Pitch; and the inauguration of the 8 Mw Solar PV Farm Project at Henrietta.
The Indian Minister will also proceed today with the inauguration of the UTSAV – Mega Trade and Cultural Fair, which was being organised by the High Commission of India, under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, from 01 to 05 November 2023 at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre.
It is recalled that Mauritius is India’s key maritime neighbour in the Indian Ocean Region and occupies a special place in the Indian Prime Minister’s vision of ‘SAGAR’ (Security and Growth for All in the Region).
