A most audacious robbery was perpetrated in the office of a company director in Forest-Side on the evening of Wednesday February 28 and the morning of Thursday February 29. The thieves broke open a sliding door to gain access to the office. They made off with several liters of Red and Black Label whisky, two Iphones, prepaid cards, Rs 26,000 in various denominations and nine wooden doors. All valued at Rs 291,500.
It was on the afternoon of Thursday February 29 that this 62-year-old company director from Highlands, Phoenix, went to the Curepipe police station to report a case of burglary.
He explained that the theft had been committed between 6.40 p.m. on Wednesday February 28, when the building closed, and 7 a.m. on Thursday February 29, when it opened.
The perpetrators gained access to the interior by forcing a sliding door. They made off with six liters of Johnny Walker Red Label and two litres of Black Label whisky, two Iphones, sixty Rs 100 Emtel prepaid cards, sixty My.t prepaid cards, Rs 26,000 in various denominations in three locked drawers, nine white wooden doors and a bunch of keys.
The building is not equipped with surveillance cameras. The Criminal Investigation Division of the Central Division is working with elements of the Field Intelligence Office to trace the perpetrators of this theft.
