A Mauritian woman living in Italy, currently on vacation in the country, was unpleasantly surprised to discover that her house in the village of Bambous had been burgled after spending the night at her sister’s. The theft took place on Wednesday evening. The burglary took place on the evening of Wednesday January 24 and the morning of Thursday January 25. The perpetrators made off with gold jewelry, foreign currency and a bottle of perfume. The total value is estimated at Rs 1.3 million.
A 65-year-old woman reported a break-in at Bambous police station shortly before noon on Thursday, January 25. In her complaint, she explained that the theft was committed between 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday January 24 and 7 a.m. on Thursday January 25. The thieves broke the lock on her kitchen door and broke a pane of glass.
They took a chain with two precious stones, two bracelets, two pairs of earrings, one with a pearl, a chain with pearls, a gold Gucci watch, an Ulric de Varens perfume, the sum of 500 euros in various denominations and jewelry belonging to her children, including bracelets. The value of these items is Rs 1.3 million.
The victim has been on vacation in Mauritius since Friday December 1 last year. She is due to return to Italy on Thursday February 1st. The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Bambous has been seized of this case to find the perpetrators of this theft.
