A small but very competitive field for the main race on Saturday. Blackburn Roc is the horse to beat, but he will have to fear the excellent finisher Alyaasaat and the powerful ‘front runner’ Hubble.
Blackburn Roc ended the 2022 season on a high note with an easy win. He won three races and also grabbed three second places and a fourth place in his seven outings last year.
Blackburn Rock have progressed since being trained by Samraj Mahadia. He has proven to be a fierce competitor when he runs in the middle of the peloton. He e runs very well after a long rest. He is the hot favorite of this race.
Alyaasaat is the best horse of the lot on paper. Let’s not forget that he was the one who inflicted his first defeat to the 2019 champion horse and winner of the four classic races, White River, in 2019. He got his share last year by winning a victory in a course ‘with terms and penalties’. Alyaasaat also placed in the Barbé Cup (1600m – G1) and the Princess Margaret Cup (1400m – G1).
Alyaasaat was transferred from Rameshwar Gujadhur’s stable to Shirinsh Narang’s during the offseason. He is in excellent physical condition and with a lot of gallops under his belt in training.
Hubble has won twice in 2022. He is an excellent front runner who is difficult to catch when he is allowed to widen the gap in the back straight. He will try the same tactic. Hubble has always needed a race or two to get back to his best, but he can make it in this small field.
The Dazzler last win was in December 2020. He ran three times in 2023 without any success. He is a courier who is more comfortable on longer courses. He will try to follow close to the pace, and he will have to be at his best to win.

King Of Colts, horse number 2 of race 8 (The Daily Live JML Equestrian Centre Training Cup) for Race Meeting 8 on Saturday 6 May 2023, has been scratched at 10.30. a.m. this Friday 5 May 2023 by the Racing Stewards of the Horse Racing Division, acting on veterinary advice. King Of Colts is lame near fore fetlock.
As per the rules for fixed odds betting, all monies placed on King Of Colts are cancelled and refunded, and betting is to be reopened. Tickets for fixed odds for that race must bear a special mention.
For the tote, the bets on King Of Colts will be refunded after the official results for Race 8 on Saturday 6 May 2023, except for all other types of bets where it is stipulated that it is replaced by the Tote favourite.
