Already winner of two races this season, Illicit Kiss continues his rise and will run for the first time in B56. He will face tough opposition made up of Lickerio, Juniper Lane, Iditarod Trail, and new horse Van Hunks.
Illicit Kiss won easily on the 33rd meeting when he drew clear of his opponents 400m from the line. He continued his effort to win by 2.75L over Shah Akbar. He signed his second victory in four outings this season. He took two second places, less than a length behind the winners in his other races.
He has shown good consistency since his first start in Mauritius in the rating range of 0 to 25 in August 2022. Illicit Kiss has climbed the divisions, and he now finds himself facing horses of Benchemark 56. He can bag his sixth victory in Mauritius to continue his way up.
Illicit Kiss will face tough opponents in this race starting with Lickerio who had a difficult race on the outside last time. He is a good front runner who already has one victory under his belt this season. He can upset the odds.
Juniper Lane found faster than him at the start in his previous outing. He is likely to be in the same situation by starting from a bad draw. He can nevertheless be right there if he can secure the lead.
Van Hunks will try to start his Mauritian career on a high note. He has two twice over 1400m, and he finished in the money on seven occasions during his 13 outings in South Africa. He did some interesting gallops in training, and he will be one to follow.
We expected better from Iditarod Trail last week but stayed one-paced at the end. He returns for the second consecutive week and will run on a shorter trip. He will be a good outsider.
