The horse of the year and winner of the Gold Cup in 2022, Walls Of Dubrovnik will be back this Saturday after a seven months break. He will have tough task for his comeback race over 1500m carrying the heavy weight of 61 kg against tough opponents.
Walls Of Dubrovnik will finally resume competition after several months. The horse was uninjured, but there was a dispute between his former owners for the past two months. He was finally transferred to the Shirish Narang stable and he has improved a lot during his last gallops.
He started in Mauritius in B31 on June 27, 2021. Walls Of Dubrovnik won ten of his eleven races at Champ-de-Mars since then. The icing on the cake is his prestigious victory in The Duke Of York Cup (1600m – G1) in November 2022 by beating The Gatekeeper and Frosted Gold among others. He was also crowned champion horse 2022.
Being the horse with the second highest Merit Rating in Mauritius, Walls Of Dubrovnik will carry the heavy handicap of 61 kg. But, he is the horse to beat despite not being at its best right now.
His main opponent will be Blackburn Roc. The Samraj Mahadia’s trained horse two victories and a good second place behind Frosted Gold on the 12th meeting. He will start from an outside draw this time and it may end up racing wide troughout.
The other classy horse in this race is Alshibaa. Double winner of the Maiden Cup (2400m – G1), he had health problems during his last two outings of 2022. He seems to have recovered and he will be a danger if he his back to his nest.
Emblem Of Hope and Special Blend are very good competitors. They have both won this season. They face tough opponents, but they remain good outsiders.
