He was a beaten favourite last time and he will try to bag a second win in the 4 years old Championship and get the crown. Padre Pio will have two horses to beat next Saturday with Fools Gold and Bag Of Tricks who are strong contenders.
Padre Pio was caught wide during the second round of the 4 years old championship over 1600m. He finally faded out in the final straight to finish far from the winner. He is ready to bounce back. He showed that he is a great shape at the training and he will be suited by the 1850m as he won over 1800m and ran second over 2000m in South Africa.
Fools Gold is the best horse of the race based on his Merit rating. The fact that it will be a weight for aged race with all runners carrying 58 kg will be an advantage for him. Fools Gold showed that he is back to his best with a good third place on his last outing. He showed some progress during the training and he will try to win it from pillar to post.
Bag Of Tricks did nothing wrong during his first three outings in Mauritius with two third places and he finished second behind Kaydens Pride and in front of Fools Gold and Padre Pio on the previous race of the 4 years old championship. He will be ridden by Irish jockey Stephen Donohoe this time and he will be a big runner.
