Trainer Yashin Emamdee will have a golden opportunity to win a main race on Saturday. He will line up the great favorite Hubble who will be the horse to beat over the 1850m reserved for horses of Merit Rating 50 or more.
Hubble nearly made it all on comeback race over 1400m on the 8th meeting. He led the race and was caught in the last 100m by an excellent Blackburn Roc who dug deep to win.
Hubble won over 1650m and 1850m in 2022 and will be more suited over a longer trip on Saturday. This strong galloper will be difficult to catch if he races alone at the front. He is in much better physical condition than on his first outing, and his trainer has taken every precaution by giving him treatments to prevent him from bleeding during the race and anti-inflammatory infiltrations in his knees and stifles. These are indications that this horse has been specially prepared for this race.
The start will be very important for all the competitors because the five horses on the list like to race up front. The main danger will come from Lunafacation which is a very good ‘front runner’. He has the plum draw and his jockey can afford to ask him for an extra effort at the start as he will only be carrying 52 kg.
Holy Warrior will do better this time. His trainer, Vincent Allet has put on his blinkers again. He is racing for the second week in a row after taking last place far from The Gatekeeper over 1500m last Saturday.
Absolutist will be a very good underdog. He is comfortable in the race at the front, but he can also follow closely before coming to the finish. The only question mark is that he will make his comeback directly over 1850m while all his opponents already have a race under the belt. He has done well over the 1850m with two second places behind Twist of Fate and The Gatekeeper in 2022.
